The Archie Creek Fire east of Glide is now 79 percent contained and remains at 131,542 acres.
An update from the Southern Area Red Team said upper level smoke from the California fires, shaded the fire again on Thursday. Firefighters will continue mopping up some areas, but are mostly transitioning to patrol status. The largest task is removing hazard trees along Rock Creek Road, Wright Creek and the Cool Water area to make those locations safe. As work is completed, firefighters and equipment are being released from the fire. 716 people are assigned to the fire.
The Thielsen Fire near Diamond Lake is still 69 percent contained with no change in acreage. The fire continues to smolder in large stumps and deep duff. Mop up and suppression repairs continue with crews continuing to improve contingency lines along Forest Service Road 60. 227 people are working on that fire.
