INDUSTRIAL FIRE RESTRICTIONS HAVE INCREASED ON DFPA LAND

October 1, 2020 3:40 a.m.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association has increased the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to IFPL 2.

That includes all private, county, state, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands that are protected by DFPA.

Fire Prevention Officer Kyle Reed said the IFPL system is a set of fire restrictions for industrial operators and other forest workers who are working on forestlands. During IFPL 2, these industrial activities are prohibited between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

*The use of power saws, except at loading sites

*Feller-bunchers with rotary head saws

*Cable Yarding

*Blasting

*Cutting, grinding or welding of metal

Reed said in addition, a fire watch of at least two hours is required during IFPL 2 once work has been completed for the day. Some private landowners or public land management agencies may require a longer fire watch on lands they own and manage.
