A California man was jailed on drug charges following a traffic stop by Myrtle Creek Police on Sunday.

A report released Wednesday by MCPD said at about 1:40 a.m. officers stopped a sedan for traffic violations. During contact with the driver, the officers noticed signs of impairment and a DUII investigation ensued. The report said the driver initially gave a false name and driver’s license. He was later identified as 48-year old Oscar Herrera Junior of Fresno.

During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located over 8 pounds of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine and evidence of drug sales. Those items were seized.

Charges included unlawful possession of both marijuana and meth, for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and for giving false information to officers.

Herrera was released from custody later that day.
