A Roseburg man was jailed for first and second degree counts of online sexual corruption of a child and for luring a minor, by Myrtle Creek Police on Tuesday.
Detective Kevin Taggart said on September 10th, MCPD began an investigation into an alleged online conversation between 37-year old Brenden Hatt and a juvenile female. Taggart said during the investigation it was discovered that Hatt sent the girl explicit messages regarding the two of them having sexual contact. Hatt and the female made an agreement to meet at an undisclosed location for sex. Taggart said Hatt arrived at the meeting place but took off on foot when contacted by officers. The suspect was located a short time later and was taken into custody without further incident.
Taggart said investigators would like the public’s assistance in locating any other possible victims in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact MCPD.
Sutherlin Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest. Hatt was detained on $20,000 bail.
