DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY, AIR POLLUTION ADVISORY UPDATE

September 12, 2020 8:00 a.m.

A Dense Smoke Advisory is in effect until 8:00 a.m. Sunday with an Air Pollution Advisory in place through 12:00 p.m. on Monday, for central Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said visibility will remain one mile or less, due to the dense smoke. This will result in hazardous driving conditions.

Officials with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality said wildfires burning in the region will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels at times. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and lung diseases, and can aggravate other serious health problems. The Advisory said residents should limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky.
