Most of the Rock Creek Hatchery east of Glide is either severely damaged or destroyed due to the Archie Creek Fire .

That’s according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Communications staff person Megan Dugan said, “Most importantly, everyone made it out”. Dugan said the Rock-Ed Education Center did not sustain damage. She said the damage includes employee housing as well. Dugan said the agency does not yet know the full extent of the damage and fish loss, as the area is still under Level 3 evacuation orders and it is unsafe to enter.

Dugan said staff will be assessing the damage and the next steps in the coming days and weeks as they are able to get back onto the property when it is safe to do so.
