An Air Pollution Advisory is in effect until 5:00 p.m. Thursday for central Douglas County and much of southern Oregon.
Information from the National Weather Service said wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, can aggravate heart and lung diseases and other serious health problems.
A Red Flag Warning is in place for between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday for the Umpqua Basin.
Very dry and unstable air conditions will support the potential for plume dominated fire activity in the afternoon and evening. That will create a high chance for locally-generated, erratic and gusty winds resulting in spot fires. Humidity will be as low as 6 percent.
