The Douglas County Fairgrounds is now a Red Cross evacuation site.
Information from the Board of Commissioners said a temporary emergency shelter has been set up for displaced residents from the French Creek, Archie Creek and Star Mountain fires. A resource center is set up, along with beds, in Douglas Hall.
Space is being given to residents who have received Level 2 and Level 3 evacuation notices only.
The fairgrounds are also open for those with RV’s and people who need a place to temporarily house their livestock and other animals. For more information about RV space and livestock space availability, call Ciera Keith at 440-4394.
As additional resources and opportunities for local residents to help and volunteer are made available, information will be released by the Board of Commissioners.
