Douglas County Commissioners have opened the Douglas County Fairgrounds and RV Park and complex to residents, pets and livestock that have left home due to evacuations issued due to the French Creek, Archie Creek and Star Mountain wildfires burning up the North Umpqua Highway.

An update from the Board of Commissioners said free spaces are being offered for RV’s, trailers and campers on a first come-first served basis. Commissioner Tom Kress said “In emergency situations like this, it is critically important that our residents and their animals have a place to go and be safe”. He said the commissioners will continue to work on ways they can help residents dealing with the impact of the wildfires.
