A missing Idleyld Park man was found alive on Monday.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said 82-year old Jack Lawrence was located by hunters in the mountains outside Glide, near Emile Shelter, at about 11:30 a.m. O’Dell said the hunters reported they had given the man some food and water before driving to cell service to request help.

O’Dell said deputies learned the man had gotten his pickup high centered on a downed tree on Friday evening. Lawrence had gotten out of the vehicle, but had fallen approximately fifty feet over an embankment. Rescue crews were able to extricate the man back to the roadway where he received treatment from emergency personnel. The man was reported to be in good condition, but was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for an evaluation. Lawrence’s dog “Trigger” was located unharmed and in good condition, inside the pickup.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by several citizens, U.S. Forest Service law enforcement, Glide Rural Fire Department and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.
