VEHICLE CRASH CLAIMS LIFE OF SUTHERLIN TEEN

A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a Sutherlin teen early Monday.

A report from Oregon State Police said at about 12:30 a.m. troopers and emergency personnel responded to the wreck on Highway 42, three miles east of Camas Valley.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup operated by 19-year old Andrew Mendenhall of Sutherlin, was eastbound when it struck a deer in the roadway and rolled several times. Mendenhall sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police.
