With Tuesday’s filing deadline having passed, the races are set for the office of mayor and city council, for the City of Winston.

Information from staff said that Scott Rutter is running to be the mayor. Incumbent Dick Hayes declined to seek another term in office. Rutter is currently a councilor representing Ward 2. His term does not expire until the end of the year. If elected as mayor, Rutter’s council seat will be declared vacant.

Incumbent Ward 2 Councilor Dave Cunningham has filed for another term. Lenny Huiras is running for the Ward 1 position now occupied by Allen Hobson who did not run for re-election.
