A pickup rolled on Interstate Five on Wednesday night.
A report from Oregon State Police said just after 9:30 p.m. the 24-year old male driver lost control of the southbound vehicle, about a mile south of the summit of Robert’s Mountain. The vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway, then veered back across the freeway and struck an ODOT guardrail. The report said the vehicle rolled several times before ending up in the center of the southbound lanes.
The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire personnel. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The report said when he was contacted at the hospital, the driver exhibited multiple signs of impairment due to alcohol. A hospital staffer said the man’s blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit.
The man was cited for reckless driving and DUII alcohol.
