ROSEBURG POLICE WITH DUII ENFORCEMENT PATROLS

August 19, 2020 3:35 a.m.

Through September, officers with the Roseburg Police Department are participating in a traffic safety campaign.

Sergeant Jeff Eichenbusch said additional officers are working shifts to specifically target DUII drivers. Eichenbusch said RPD and the Oregon Department of Transportation are encouraging drivers to plan ahead and follow these tips:

*Even one drink can impair judgement and increase the risk of getting arrested for drunk driving, or worse, the risk of having a crash while driving

*Those who will be drinking, should plan on not driving. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver, before a party begins.

*Those who have been drinking, should not drive. They should call a taxi, phone a sober friend or family member or use public transportation.

*Do not let anyone who has been drinking, get behind the wheel

*Contact law enforcement if an impaired driver is seen on the road.

Eichenbusch said the enforcement campaign is made possible through a grant received from Oregon Impact and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
