A Roseburg man was jailed and two teenagers were detained for an alleged weekend assault.
A report from the Roseburg Police said a 19-year old Oakland man and three other people were reportedly involved in a physical disturbance on Commercial Street near Jackson Street on Saturday at about 1:00 a.m. The report said both people were driving around town in a speculated road rage incident that turned physical when they stopped.
An investigation revealed the man and two male juveniles were upset that another man was driving around with a former girlfriend of one of the suspects. The 16-year old allegedly smashed the back window and windshield of the victim’s vehicle, using a skateboard. The victim exited his vehicle with a tire iron due to being outnumbered and fearful for his safety.
The report said the victim was overpowered and was allegedly assaulted by the three others. During the incident, the 16-year old allegedly smashed the victim over the back of the head with the skateboard three or four times, causing him to lose consciousness. The report said the victim suffered a broken nose, a concussion and a laceration to the back of his head.
All three suspects were charged with second degree assault. The teenagers were taken to Juvenile Detention.
