COVID-19 has claimed 7 more lives, raising the state death toll to 375 as of Wednesday.
An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 258 new confirmed and presumptive cases, bringing the state total to 22,022. The new cases include:
*45 in Multnomah County
*41 in Washington County
*30 in Umatilla County
*29 in Marion County
*24 in Clackamas County
*17 in Malheur County
*14 in Jackson County
*10 in Lane County
*7 in Linn County
*5 each in Jefferson and Yamhill counties
*4 each in Benton, Hood River, Josephine and Polk counties
*3 in Douglas County
*2 each in Baker, Columbia, Lincoln and Morrow counties
*1 each in Deschutes, Harney, Wallowa and Wasco counties
The new deaths ranged in age from 57 to 95. 4 lived in Clackamas County, 2 lived in Washington County and 1 lived in Umatilla County.
The update said daily cases of COVID-19 declined slightly during the week of August 3rd through August 9th. There were 2,122 new cases that week, down slightly from the previous week’s tally of 2,278. 29 deaths were reported, a drop from 39 the previous week.
The percentage of positive test results also decreased to 5.4 percent and hospitalizations have plateaued. The age group most affected by the virus remains 20-29, although the elderly is still the hardest hit age group. Persons age 80 or older account for nearly half of those hospitalized.
An outbreak of 29 cases of COVID-19 has been reported at Good Shepherd Health Care System in Umatilla County. An outbreak of 22 cases has been reported at Pan American Berry Growers in Marion County. Those case numbers include all persons linked to the outbreak, which may include household members and other close contacts of employees.
