Races for seats on the Roseburg City Council are evolving.
According to information from City Recorder Amy Sowa, incumbents Mayor Larry Rich, and councilors Sheila Cox, Andrea Zielinski, and Brian Prawitz, have completed all filing requirements and are qualified to run for re-election the November General Election Ballot.
Incumbent Ashley Hicks has turned in her filing paperwork and is in the process of gathering signatures. Patrice Sipos is challenging Hicks and has completed the requirements to run.
Patrick Lewandoski has completed the requirements to get on the ballot. He is seeking the Ward 1 Position 2 seat currently held by Linda Fisher-Fowler. Fisher-Fowler told News Radio 1240 KQEN that she has decided not to seek a second term in office. Sheri Moothart has turned in her initial filing paperwork for the same seat.
All are seeking four-year terms except for Cox, who is running to complete the term originally held by Tom Ryan. Ryan resigned at the last year as he planned to travel in retirement. Cox was appointed to the council in February. If elected, she will serve until the end of 2022.
The process to run for office must be completed by August 25th.
