In the KQEN Business Spotlight:

Ground has been broken and site work is underway for a pizza restaurant and a coffee shop, on West Harvard in Roseburg.

James Smith is the owner of Rogue Fare, which already operates Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Medford. Smith told News Radio 1240 KQEN the store opened in 2017. In 2018, Smith took on the role of developing more Mountain Mike’s locations in Oregon. Last year Smith began plans for the Roseburg location. Once this outlet is open, he will continue seeking other areas for more stores.

Smith told KQEN that originally, he was going to be a tenant on the property which borders Bellows Street, just west of Interstate Five. Since then, Smith has purchased 1.21 acres from Investors IX, LLC, which owns the rest of the parcel where the Department of Human Services is located.

Along with Mountain Mike’s franchise, Cascade Coffee Shop will be in the same 8,000 square foot building. Smith said close to 3,000 square feet will be available for another business. He said that could be retail or office space.

Smith describes Mountain Mike’s as “traditional family style pizza”. He said it will also offer salad and sandwiches, along with beer and wine. An arcade area and a meeting room are planned. Smith wants it to be a destination, whether for lunch or a place to congregate after a sporting event at Roseburg High School.

Smith said Cascade Coffee Shop will be a complimentary business to the pizza outlet, and will have “grab and go” food along with a hot and cold coffee drinks.

Smith plans to have both stores open by late November to early December.
