CASA OF DOUGLAS COUNTY HAS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

August 5, 2020 3:20 a.m.

CASA of Douglas County’s new executive director is Angela Gross.

A release from the non-profit said Gross is a former County Mental Health community partner, has a qualified background and a “determined, passionate drive” towards leading the non-profit’s advocacy program.

The release said Gross experienced barriers and challenges as a child, so the possibility of directing a program geared towards advocating for abused and neglected children in foster care hit home, igniting her desire to bring positivity to children she can easily identify with.

Gross said as a recent cancer survivor her perspective on life has changed drastically. Having been homeless as a teen, Gross said she “knew I needed to do something more with this gifted time I have been blessed with”. Gross said she plans to strengthen community relations, work on fundraising, as well as recruitment and retention of volunteers.

The release said CASA is adapting to the new normal during the life of COVID-19 restrictions. They are preparing for the nationally expected 33 percent increase of children entering foster care.
