A Junction City man was in critical condition following a single vehicle wreck near Elkton on Friday afternoon.

A report from Oregon State Police said at 4:00 p.m. a pickup had rolled off Highway 138W and came to a stop on its wheels to the north of the highway. The report said the driver was ejected and was seriously injured. Evidence showed the vehicle had gone onto the gravel and the driver overcorrected before crashing.

The report said a whiskey flask was observed along with an empty beer can. The 37-year old driver was taken to Mercy Medical Center where a blood test indicated the man’s blood alcohol level was at .29 percent, close to three times the legal limit for intoxication. The driver was helicoptered to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.
