Improvements to Ford’s Pond Community Park are set to begin soon.
A release from the City of Sutherlin said the council recently awarded a bid of just over $456,000 to Cradar Enterprises to do the work.
Work will consist of:
*A new asphalt parking area off of Church Road with a total of 39 spaces including four ADA spaces
*Curbs
*Gutters
*Storm water drainage
*Utilities
*A new ADA compliant path from the parking area to the perimeter path
*A section of the path around Ford’s Pond
*Interpretative areas, signage, landscaping and seating
The release said the work is being funded through two grants that the City of Sutherlin and the Friends of Ford’s Pond received from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Those grants totaled just over $632,000. Other grants and donations have come in from the Ford Family Foundation, Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, C. Giles Hunt Charitable Trust, Sutherlin Rotary and the Sutherlin Lions Club.
Construction should start in early August and be completed by late fall.
