The Jordan Creek Fire burned two miles west of Canyonville on Monday night.

Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said firefighters arrived on the scene, near the 1,500 block of Canyonville-Riddle Road, around 11:15 p.m. Reed said the fire was burning in light flashy fuels and was moving at a moderate rate of speed. Firefighters stopped the forward spread of the fire at a quarter of an acre within a half hour and then shifted their efforts to mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.
Crews remained on the scene until 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from the South Umpqua Rural Fire Department joined DFPA to deal with the fire. No homes were threatened. The cause of the Jordan Creek Fire is under investigation.
