July 26, 2020 6:30 a.m.

Crews from Douglas County Fire District No. 2 worked to extinguish a house fire in the Wilbur area on Saturday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Scott Richardson said at about 4:00 p.m. a report came in that a house was on fire in the 400 block of Shakemill Road. Firefighters arrived to find a double-wide manufactured home with fire and smoke showing.

Richardson said all occupants had gotten outside before crews arrived. An aggressive interior attack was made and the fire was quickly extinguished. It had started to spread to the attic of the home.

Richardson said the fire appeared to have started on the front porch of the home near a small table. One resident was treated for minor smoke inhalation. 14 firefighters responded to the incident.
