A Heat Advisory is in effect for a wide area of southern Oregon for Sunday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heat index values from 94 to near 100 are expected. An urgent weather message said very hot temperatures will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Central Douglas County along with the Rogue Valley are among the areas under the advisory. High temperatures are expected to be near 100 degrees in Roseburg and 105 degrees in Medford.

Forecasters said people should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. Residents should reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or in the evening.

The Heat Advisory for Sunday is in place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
