Roseburg Public Schools has announced that Director of Teaching and Learning Michelle Knee has been appointed the district’s new assistant superintendent.

An RPS release said Knee will maintain many of her prior responsibilities. It said her new role has been created in an effort to best support staff, students and families.

Superintendent Jared Cordon said “I believe strongly that Michelle’s relentless dedication to our students and staff, in combination with this new role, will accelerate the support needed to have a successful 2020-21 school year”.

The release said Knee has spent 25 years working in education, including 14 years as a teacher. She has worked in California, Texas and Nevada and has spent time as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist and an English Language Learner specialist.

For the past 11 years, Knee has served in administrative roles, including as an assistant principal and a principal, and in Roseburg as the Instructional Leadership Coordinator and her recent job title as Director of Teaching and Learning.
