The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is unable to substantiate that a crime occurred in a reported noose incident found at Whistler’s Bend Park in late June.
An update from DCSO said on June 22nd officials with DCSO became aware of a post on social media where an individual reported finding a noose outside his yurt during a weekend trip to Whistler’s Bend Park. DCSO immediately launched an investigation.
The update said the patrol and detective’s division put an extensive amount of time and effort into the case. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office enlisted the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Officials say at this time, the investigative portion of the case has concluded, based upon all leads available to investigators.
Sheriff John Hanlin said “A tremendous amount of resources and effort was put into investigating this incident”. He said “We take these cases seriously and conduct thorough investigations based on the facts available to us”. He said at this time investigators are unable to substantiate that a crime occurred.
The update said should new information become available, DCSO will continue to investigate to the fullest extent.
