July 16, 2020 1:50 p.m.

On Thursday Oregon had the highest daily case count since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The Oregon Healthy Authority reported 437 new confirmed and presumptive cases with 2 new deaths, bringing the state death toll to 249. The total number of cases in Oregon is now at 13,509.

The update said the rise in cases is attributed to the spread of COVID-19 from social gatherings and sporadic spread. It said residents “should think hard about altering daily routines that may put people at risk”.  Worksite outbreaks and long-term care facility outbreaks are also contributing to the daily count.

The new confirmed and presumptive cases include:

*108 in Multnomah County

*76 in Washington County

*53 in Marion County

*50 in Umatilla County

*28 each in Clackamas and Deschutes County

*17 in Malheur County

*12 in Lane County

*8 each in Jackson and Morrow counties

*7 in Polk County

*6 in Jefferson County

*5 in Hood River County

*4 each in Douglas, Benton, and Linn counties

*3 each in Klamath, Lincoln and Yamhill counties

*2 each in Clatsop, Coos, Tillamook and Wasco counties

*1 each in Josephine and Union counties
