There are 4 new positive cases and 1 new presumptive case of COVID-19 in Douglas County as of Wednesday.
An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the total number of cases is now at 71. 62 are positive tests with 9 presumptive tests. There has been 1 death and 1 person remains in the hospital. 21 people are currently in isolation. 6,137 people have tested negative for COVID-19 in the county.
The Oregon Health Authority has reported the first workplace outbreak in Douglas County. It has been linked to Romtec Inc – a manufacturing facility. County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer and the staff at the Douglas Public Health Network have been working directly with Romtec and their employees since the first positive case result was returned. Both DPHN staff and company officials are supporting their employees that are in isolation or quarantine.
Dannenhoffer said “after the last several days of epidemiology investigations, we believe the risk to the general public from this outbreak is low”. He said Romtec has done all the right things in preparation, testing and supporting the staff that are in quarantine.
