The body of a missing kayaker was found Thursday morning at Diamond Lake.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at approximately 11:20 a.m. 911 dispatchers received a report that the body of a deceased male had been located in the lake. Marine deputies along with the Douglas County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and recovered the body of 37-year old Jared Boria of Vancouver, Washington. His family was notified.

O’Dell said Boria had previously been assumed drowned after he went missing on Tuesday June 30th. The man had launched his kayak from his camping space at Diamond Lake Campground and paddled out onto the lake after 10:00 p.m. At approximately 10:20 p.m. dispatchers began receiving reports of a male yelling for help from the water. He was later reported as missing by his wife.

O’Dell said numerous man hours and resources were spent searching for Boria so his family and friends could have some answers. He said “our hearts go out to them”.

Agencies that worked on the search included the DCSO Marine Division, DCSO Dive Team, search and rescue teams from Douglas, Coos, Klamath and Jackson counties, and a number of other groups.
