A 50-year old man was arrested after allegedly resisting arrest on Wednesday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 10:00 a.m. a deputy was in the 700 block of Clearlake Avenue in Winchester Bay impounding a vehicle, when he noticed Lonnie Nord in a vehicle in his driveway across the street. The deputy knew the man had a Coos County Circuit Court Warrant out for his arrest.
The report said the deputy contacted the man, who allegedly did not want to comply and started to walk towards his home. The report said verbal commands did not work but the display of a taser gained compliance. The man was very verbal when he was handcuffed. The deputy said the man was actively resisting and was non-compliant while they were walking to the patrol vehicle. The man was eventually placed on the ground until additional deputies arrived.
The report said the man was in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. Nord was charged with unlawful possession of meth, resisting arrest, interfering with police, and for the warrant. He was detained on $62,500 bail.
