Detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are following up on a reported incident at Whistler’s Bend Park last weekend.

An update from DCSO said investigators have been in touch with the man who made the post on social media. An initial report said the man reported finding a noose outside his yurt over the weekend, while he was camping at the park. At that time, Sergeant Brad O’Dell said DCSO takes reports of potential hate crimes “very seriously”.

The update said detectives are continuing to gather all relevant facts, conducting interviews, and attempting to collect evidence before a disposition on the case is made.

Anyone with information which they believe may be helpful to investigators is asked to call the Investigations Division at 440-4458.
