A Roseburg man was jailed for being a felon in possession of a firearm by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday night.

A DCSO report said at 7:40 p.m. 42-year old Allen Edmiston was initially reported as being suicidal in the 200 block of Southeast Main Street in Winston. Deputies and officers from the Winston Police tried to contact the man, but he took off running and hid under a shed. He was taken into custody without incident and said that he was not suicidal. The report said during the investigation, it was learned that the suspect was a convicted felon, and had a firearm in his vehicle that he had been showing off before law enforcement arrived.

The firearm was located and the man was transported to corrections. Bail was set at $50,000.
