There are no new cases of COVID-19 in Douglas County as of Tuesday.

An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the total number of confirmed cases remains at 29. Of those, 28 have recovered. There have been zero deaths. 1 person remains hospitalized. 3,906 people have tested negative for COVID-19 in the county.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said “we have seen a definite spike in cases statewide, and we are beginning to see a shift of new cases from metro areas to our rural counties”. Dannenhoffer said the threat of the virus is real, even in areas where there is currently a low case load such as Union County, which went from 6 cases last week to more than 240 in less than a week. He said staying home when sick, social distancing and wearing masks when in public will have an impact on the transmission of this virus and help in reducing outbreaks like are being seen in other counties.
