The Roseburg JCPenney’s store has reopened, but remains on a list of locations slated to close.

Corporate Communications Manager Kristen Bennett told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the store will have promotions, but an official liquidation sale has not yet begun.

Earlier this month the Roseburg store, in the Garden Valley Shopping Center, was listed as one of 154 locations to be permanently closed, after the struggling retailer filed plans for restructuring in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

At that time, the company said it had been making progress in rebuilding until the COVID-19 pandemic caused it to have to make more difficult decisions in order to keep going.

JCPenney’s said it will remain the nation’s largest apparel and home retailer after the group of stores is closed. The local store originally closed “temporarily” on March 18th.

No date has been announced for a final closure of the Roseburg store.
