Umpqua Community College is planning a summer musical.
Director of Theatre Christina Allaback said the production of “Tick, Tick…Boom” was originally planned to hit the stage in the spring, but couldn’t take place then due to COVID-19 restrictions. The musical was written by Jonathan Larson, creator of “Rent”.
Auditions will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Wayne Crooch Hall room, 20, on the main campus. Those trying out will be reading from a script, and should bring a short-prepared song if possible. The rock musical has two roles for men and one for a woman, all in their 20s.
Allaback said they hope to hold the show in August. It will be an outdoor show, done either in the Swanson Amphitheater or perhaps as a ‘drive-through” play.
