Oregon Governor Kate Brown addressed guidelines for Phase 2 of the reopening process during a press conference Wednesday morning.
Brown thanked Oregonians for their efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. Brown said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called Oregon residents, “kind and smart” because of the approach the state has taken.
Brown said she will announce of Thursday which counties will be able to enter phase 2 and relax some restrictions on the business community and allowing for more activities to take place. So far, 26 of the 35 counties in Phase 1 have applied to be in Phase 2.
Brown said bars and restaurants in Phase 2 will be able to remain open until 12:00 a.m. She said bowling alleys, pools, theatres, and some recreational sports will be allowed to resume, with social distancing in place. Brown said faith-based organizations will be allowed to meet in larger groups based on a square footage formula, and more social activities will be able to take place.
Brown emphasized the importance of wearing face coverings, noting that they are required in some work settings, and said residents are encouraged to wear them in public settings.
