A bicyclist who was the subject of a search on Friday, turned out to not be in need of assistance.
A release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Friday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. 65-year old Jared Johnson of Sutherlin called the 911 center from Diamond Lake. Searchers had been looking for the man for several hours after it was reported that he was overdue in arriving at Diamond Lake. Johnson had been dropped off at Lake of the Woods on Monday and was riding his bicycle on forest roads approximately 50 miles to Diamond Lake.
Johnson told deputies that there had been a misunderstanding as to when he would be in communication with his family. He said he had spoken to them Friday evening and they were on their way to pick him up. The release said he is no longer considered missing.
