MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS

A Roseburg man was jailed for allegedly assaulting police officers on Wednesday afternoon.
A report from Roseburg Police said at about 1:30 p.m. 52-year old Nathaniel Wytcherly was contacted by officers after reports that he had punched a woman in the mouth. The report said the officer tried to interview the suspect, but the man suddenly attacked the officers, punching one in the mouth, causing in injury, and also punching the other officer.
A taser was deployed and Wytcherly was placed into custody. While in handcuffs, the man allegedly kept attacking officers by trying to kick them. The report said he did not stop resisting and had to be forced into a police car. The man also allegedly tried to fight with deputies at the Douglas County Jail as well.
The report said both officers received care at Mercy Medical Center and were released a short time later.
Wytcherly was also charged with two counts of harassment and for resisting arrest. Bail was initially set at $61,250.
