RAILROAD PROJECT MEANS TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

May 7, 2020 9:30 a.m.
A railroad crossing project means the temporary closure of a section of Old Highway 99 North for two days.
A release from the Douglas County Public Works Department said the work is in conjunction with Oregon and Pacific Railroad.
The project will include the replacement of existing rail ties and the releveling of the tracks to meet current standards for safety, with adjacent road approach paving taking place as well. The area is about 1.3 miles south of Sutherlin.
The project requires the closure of the highway where the road intersects the railroad tracks. Motorists will have to use a different route between next Monday at 7:00 a.m. and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Southbound drivers are asked to detour from Hastings Avenue to Taylor Street to Comstock Road in Sutherlin. Northbound traffic is asked to detour utilizing Comstock Road in Sutherlin.
Public Works will install reader boards with advance warning notices, as well as barricades with road closed signs to notify the public.
