Oregon State Police investigated a shooting complaint Sunday night and determined a man had not been shot at but was under the influence of marijuana.
An OSP report said just after 11:45 p.m. troopers received a call from a motorist reporting the alleged incident while he was driving through northern Douglas County. The report said the man kept on driving for 20 miles with a flat tire before troopers located him in southern Lane County.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the driver’s paranoia came due to the drug and led him to think the incident had happened, when actually a tire on his vehicle had blown out.
Troopers reportedly located approximately 95 grams of marijuana, marijuana items and nearly $30,000 in cash. The money was concealed in a package of diapers while the marijuana was found in the driver compartment of the vehicle.
The driver, 20-year old Felipe Moreno of Florida, and his passenger 30-year old Jose Guisjon of California, are being referred to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office for money laundering.
Moreno was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
OSP was assisted by the Medford Office of the Department of Homeland Security.
