Mercy Medical Center received an “A” for patient safety in recent grading by the Leapfrog Group.
That group describes itself as an independent non-profit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system.
Mercy President and CEO Kelly Morgan said “we are honored to be recognized by the Leapfrog Group with an “A” rating”. Morgan said “patient and staff safety have always and will always be a top priority for Mercy”.
A release from Mercy said the achievement reflects the commitment of Mercy staff and the community medical providers to both safety and to continuous improvement.
The release said developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The release said it is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
Communications Director Kathleen Nickel said “it’s a great recognition at a time when its important for the community to feel safe receiving healthcare services”.
