One man was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck just south of Roseburg early Wednesday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 4:20 a.m. a 24-year old was southbound on Old Highway 99S when he attempted to slow down to turn into the Shady Oaks Motel. The driver claimed he had bad steering components on his vehicle which caused the car to go into the oncoming lane when he applied the brakes. His vehicle struck a northbound car driven by a 34-year old man.
The driver who caused the accident had two passengers. One attempted to get in the other vehicle after the wreck. Both passengers ultimately ran off before a deputy arrived.
The second driver complained of pain and was taken to Mercy Medical Center for evaluation. He was treated and released. The first driver was cited for making a dangerous left turn.
