COMMISSIONERS ANNOUNCE COURTHOUSE REOPENING ON MONDAY

April 24, 2020 2:00 p.m.
On Friday Douglas County Commissioners announced that the courthouse will reopen for public access on Monday.
A release said the opening will incorporate very strict social distancing procedures for county employees, as well as for the visiting public. All county departments will resume normal hours of operation on Monday as well, with the exception of the fairgrounds and the museum. Due to the current COVID-19 orders from Governor Brown, the fairgrounds, and both museum facilities – in Roseburg and near Reedsport, will remain closed.
The release said the public is asked to only visit the courthouse if necessary. Citizens are still encouraged to utilize online, email and phone systems as the primary point of service. Those who need to conduct business, should schedule an appointment in advance. There will be posted guidelines in the building regarding entering offices, standing in line, and more. Those inside the building are asked to stay at least 6 feet away from others at all times, wash their hands often, wear a mask if possible and use hand sanitizer. People who are sick should stay at home.
Commissioner Tim Freeman said a number of changes have been made to prepare for the reopening. That includes:
*Expanding work station spacing in office areas
*Prohibiting gatherings and close work proximity
*Installing Plexiglas sneeze guards in departments that work with the public
*Organizing staggered work and break schedules for employees
*Determining office traffic patterns for employees and visitors
*Obtaining a supply of masks for employees and visitors
*Making hands-free sanitizing stations and in office sanitizer available
*Performing daily cleaning and disinfecting of touched surfaces.
The release said a few changes will be made to the parks system in the near future. County operated parking lots, boat ramps and docks remain open for public access.
The park reservation lines have reopened so residents can start marking future reservations. That number is 967-7001.
