SEVEN CITED AFTER AUTHORITIES RESPOND TO A FIRE

Seven people were cited after authorities responded to a fire on Thursday morning.
A Roseburg Police report said at 8:30 a.m. firefighters went to the fire under the Deer Creek Bridge, near Diamond Lake Boulevard. A 30-year old man allegedly prevented firefighters from putting out the fire. Officers responded and found a maze of garbage and debris scattered throughout the area under the bridge. Both were scattered in the creek as well.
The group was found with bedding in between the beams of the bridge. Two people, including the man who reportedly interfered with the firefighters, ran from the scene after being told they were under arrest. Both were located later in the day. One was compliant while being cited but the other was uncooperative and resisted arrest.
The man, identified as Nicholas Kindel was cited for interfering with a firefighter, interfering with a peace officer, resisting arrest, depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway, and for prohibited camping.
20-year old Jamie Smith was cited interfering with a police officer, depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway, and for prohibited camping.
The other five people, ranging in age from 24 to 33 were cited for the depositing trash and camping charges.
All were released after being cited.
