The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in locating a missing Douglas County man.
Sergeant Carrie Carver said 35-year old Jonathan Eli Moore of Oakland was involved in a vehicle crash on April 7th just east of Cottage Grove on Row River Road. Carver said it’s believed that at least one shot was fired at the man’s 2001 Dodge Dakota. The vehicle was located at the crash scene unoccupied and the man’s cell phone was found nearby. The second vehicle in the crash has also been located and deputies are continuing to investigate all of the details of the incident.
Carver said Moore is believed to have left the scene on foot, and damage to the pickup indicates that Moore may have suffered injuries from the crash. Law enforcement searched the area of the incident but have not been able to locate Moore. His family reported him missing to the Sutherlin Police Department on April 10th after not hearing from him since April 7th when he left for Cottage Grove to visit a friend.
Moore is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He is known to have a short beard and mustache, and sometimes wears an earring in his left ear.
Carver said LCSO Search and Rescue has continued to search the area of the crash looking for Moore but has not found anything indicating where he went, and all leads to his whereabouts have been exhausted.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of Sutherlin Police said their officers have continued to follow up with family and acquaintances. Sorenson said they have checked his home, his place of employment in the Sutherlin/Oakland area and other known locations.
Anyone with information who has seen Moore since April 7th or knows his location, is asked to call either the Lane County Sheriff’s Office or the Sutherlin Police Department.
