With families adjusting and readjusting to new normals during the COVID-19 outbreak, and searching for reliable answers, the Douglas Education Service District and Take Root Parenting created a new website resource.
An ESD release said they have collaborated and introduced: https://www.douglasesd4u.org/ to support parents and caregivers living in Douglas, Lake and Klamath counties.
The release said the mobile friendly design includes links to more than 50 resources and is divided into three sections: COVID-19, Parent Resources and Home Learning”. Local and statewide updates about the virus are included as well as ways to help children process disruptions in routines and understand the importance of social distancing.
The release said alongside navigating distance learning for children, many parents are figuring out how to work remotely, scrambling how to find childcare or facing unemployment. It said the content responds to current needs and provides information about Distance Learning for All, emergency childcare, goods and services assistance, health and safety, mental health resources, stress management, food assistance locations and confidential help hotlines. Also provided are activity ideas for families and children of all ages, addressing relational, physical, emotional and intellectual needs, according to the release.
