A 50-year old man was jailed for theft, on a weapons charge, and more, following an incident in the 2000 block of Buckhorn Road early Saturday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 12:45 a.m. deputies responded to the Dixonville Store regarding a report of a suspicious person that was loading items into a van. When law enforcement arrived, the van was gone but deputies could see that someone had broken into the propane tank storage locker and stolen several tanks. Surveillance footage showed a man in the van, and he was recognized due to past contacts.
Matthew Bronsert was later contacted during a traffic stop in Roseburg. He was reportedly found in possession of one of the three stolen tanks. He was also allegedly carrying a loaded pistol and is a convicted felon that is on probation. Bronsert was held for third degree theft, being a felon in possession of a firearm, second degree criminal mischief, driving while suspended and for a parole violation. He was detained without bail.
