FUTURE FIRST CITIZEN WINNER ANNOUNCED THURSDAY NIGHT

April 15, 2020 3: 25 a.m.
The Roseburg High School Future First Citizen will be announced tonight.
The Roseburg High School Foundation now oversees the scholarship competition and plans to do a Facebook Live event at 6:00 p.m. to share the winning name. The group had planned a special event to make the announcement back on March 17th, but it had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation.
Five RHS seniors have been chosen as semi-finalists for the honor. The winner gets $10,000 toward tuition at the college of their choice. The other four students will each receive $4,000 scholarships.
The semi-finalists are Colby Fairbairn, Isabelle Hervey, Ashtyn Hooten, Brigid Rickman and Quinlan Wedge.
The Future First Citizen recognition and scholarship award began approximately 20 years ago. It was designed and financially supported by a combination of local businesses and individuals, many of whom are supporting the return of the award with a three-year commitment. No award was given out in 2019.
