Staff with the Roseburg VA Medical Center said mental health care will continue during its response to COVID-19.
Dr. Devin Marsh, Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health, said most outpatient care can be accessed via telephone or videoconference from the same providers who veterans were seeing before the crisis started. Marsh said a notification that the Acute Psychiatric Unit and Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program admissions were being temporarily curtailed led to concerns being expressed by a number of veterans.
Marsh said if a veteran has a mental health emergency, the Roseburg facility, as well as the facilities in Eugene and North Bend, has mental health staff available for face-to-face emergency treatment and will coordinate with other VA facilities and community partners for additional care, if needed.
