A 30-year old man was jailed after police chased him in a stolen vehicle on Thursday night.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 9:45 p.m. a deputy saw a vehicle he knew was stolen at the Jordan Creek Rest Area near Canyonville. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued and ultimately ended at the dead end of Crest in Canyonville. Both the driver, Michael Stineford, and a passenger were taken into custody.
Stineford was charged with eluding police, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangering, being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon and for interfering. He was detained on $225,000 bail. The woman was cited and released for possession of a stolen vehicle.
